Visual & Performing Arts Status

“The impact of the school’s specialism is evident in the high uptake of courses, good exam success, high participation of extra-curricular activities and developing self-confidence in the students.”

Ofsted January 2011

As a specialist arts college we are committed to ensuring that all our students receive a high quality education which encourages them to reach their academic potential, whilst at the same time seeking to broaden their horizons and enrich their learning experience through the Arts. The Visual and Performing Arts status teaches our students to celebrate the differences between themselves and others, understand relevant and current issues and learn discipline, self-respect, perseverance, and cooperation.

We aspire for our students to:

·         become creative, reflective, independent learners.

·         work productively in teams while developing leadership skills.

·         achieve their full potential, including the highest standards of academic  achievement.

·         feel valued and value others.

·         become confident, self-reliant and caring members of society.

·         understand themselves and develop a critical awareness of the world in which they live.

·         work in a learning environment in which they feel safe and secure.

"The future of our nation depends on our ability to create and to be creative. During the coming decades our most important national resources will be human resources. If our nation is to continue to meet the challenges of the future, today's schools need to develop creative leaders."
