Introduction

Aims

 

The History Department at Handsworth Wood Girls’ School is part of the successful Humanities Faculty. The History Department links and interacts with the other Humanities subjects of Geography, Religious Education and Citizenship to provide a positive grounding in the Humanities subjects. This feeds into the schools cross-curricular activities encouraging the use of all subjects within History.

 

Staffing

 

The History Department is led by Ms A. R. Judeh Head of History who teaches KS3, KS4 and KS5 and with Miss N. Rafferty a specialist Humanities Teacher who is focussing on History in KS3 and KS4. Some History lessons are taught by Miss M. Robin, who is trained in the support of SEN and EAL students and who is an ICT specialist and Mrs S. Coomer who is Head of the Humanities Faculty and the Geography Department who is also experienced in teaching KS3 History.

 

The theme that we follow throughout each year’s syllabus is how people lived and how their societies were organised with an emphasis on the role of women in those societies.
