Curriculum

The programme covers topics which are set on various levels depending on the age of your daughter.

In year 7 she will learn about the importance of values and how they will help her to believe in herself and make the right choices in order to succeed.

In year 8 she will learn how to become a positive thinker where she will see her values being challenged whilst having to make the right decisions, therefore, problem solving and the determination to succeed, are just two areas that she will enjoy participating in.

In year 9, learning to be a positive member of a team by using positive debating and presentation skills, will equip your daughter with the necessary tools, not just for her future employment but also for her to use in her social life as a whole.

In year 10 your daughter will learn about Time Management and how to be a good leader.  These skills will assist her during those vital examination periods and also make her an organised future employee and, eventually an organised wife and/or mother in the future.

Year 11 will see all those above skills and more, put into practice whilst focussing on the changing nature of the job market.  Your daughter will learn that today’s jobs require specific qualifications and expert knowledge whilst fewer unskilled jobs will become available, therefore, passing her examinations and acquiring specific training will be necessary.  Employers are now expecting young people to have Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.

Encourage your daughter to stay on in our 6th Form.  The Learing4Life programme continues here where she will have the opportunity to participate in further discussions on real weekly topics as they happen in the News.

How Parents Can help

You as a parent can help your daughter to get through this project smoothly, by ensuring that she keeps abreast of the local and worldwide news on a daily basis. Read the newspapers with her, watch documentaries on current affairs together and encourage her to voice her opinions effectively by having family discussions regularly.  This will help your daughter to broaden her knowledge and understanding of the issues raised in the Learning4Life programme, therefore, she will be able to bring interesting and exciting discussions to form class debates.

To conclude, your daughter will get the best out of the Learning4Life programme once she participates on a regular basis.  Insist that your daughter attends school every day and on time.  She will see her personal qualities develop and improve as she moves up through the Key stages and you, as a parent, will only have a lot to be proud of.
